Infrastructure construction to see huge progress

According to the public notification "Planning for Dushu Lake 2nd Passage" announced on the Internet on Dec 9, the construction of major infrastructures in Suzhou will see huge progress in 2017. The city will kick off a batch of road projects including the East Extension of Nanhu Expressway, Dushu Lake 2nd Passage, Jinji Lake Tunnel, the Speed-raising Reconstruction of Chunshen Lake Road, etc.

The East Extension of Nanhu Expressway will be 10.7km long and extends eastward until it meets East Line Interchange of Middle Ring Road.

The planning for Jinji Lake Tunnel was brought up at a SIP work meeting on August 1. In the light of past data, the tunnel will be about 3 to 4 kilometers in length as a thoroughfare connecting between the east and west of Jinji Lake.

The construction of 41km-long Rail Transit Line S1 with 28 stations will start in the first half of 2017. It starts at SIP Yiting Road Station and ends at Huaqiao Station at Huaqiao Town in Kunshan, where it transfers to Shanghai Metro Line 11.

The Speed-raising Reconstruction of Chunshen Lake Road is about 16.4km in length and it is a two-way six-lane road with a designed speed of 80km/hour.

The construction of Rail Transit Line 6 will be kicked off at the end of 2017. As a secondary axis from SIP to SND, the line runs from northwest to southeast through a number of city districts. The 43.8km-long line with about 30 stations transfers to Lines 3, 5 and 7 that are under planning, to Lines 2 and 4 that are under construction and Line 1 that is in operation.

The feasibility research for Line 8 will be submitted for approval by the end of next year. Running through Yangcheng Lake Road, Yangcheng Lake Middle Road and Yangcheng Lake East Road in Xiangcheng District, the line will make travel much easier for the residents in that area.
