Suzhou Institute of Siemens Corporate Technology Opens

Suzhou Institute of Siemens Corporate Technology opened officially for business on September 20 in Suzhou Industrial Park as its first dedicated research unit in digitalization technology in China, which will promote the big data, Internet of Things, smart robot, and other innovative technologies in SIP as well as the rest of Suzhou, and speed up the upgrading of regional R&D and innovation capabilities.

In implementing the strategies of industrial transformation and upgrading and technological innovation in recent years, SIP had built 3.8 million square meters of technological carriers and clustered 920 R&D agencies by the year 2015. A total input in R&D from all social strata comprises 3.35% of GDP, and the number of valid invention patents reached 101 per 10,000 people. A vibrant innovation and start-up ecological cycle is initially taking shape.

The newly opened Suzhou Institute will be devoted to technological innovation, development and application in the fields of big data, Internet of Things, smart transportation, industrial network security, industrial robot, and its research will be carried out in close coordination with the major fields of China's future manufacturing industry, such as new-generation information and communication, high-end numerically controlled machinery and robots, and the rail transportation equipment, etc. The institute is planning to build seven labs, of which those of cyber-defense and connected mobility solution are already in operation.
