The phase-1 project of Suzhou Research Institute of IECAS (Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) was put under construction on September 3 in Suzhou Industrial Park. The 47,000-square-meter research institute is scheduled to be put into use in early 2018.

IECAS and SIP inked an agreement on June 6, 2014 on the entry of Suzhou Research Institute of IECAS, and all the work has been in smooth progress ever since. As for team building, Suzhou Research Institute has set up a 400-odd-member research team by introducing talents from those on the list of "the Recruitment Program of Global Experts", and cultivating talents together with some universities like University of Science and Technology of China, Southeast University and Nanjing University of Science & Technology. As regards research and industrialization, Suzhou Research Institute works on platform architecture, image decoding, and simulation deduction, etc., and undertakes some major projects commissioned by Chinese Academy of Sciences, and national defense authority, and makes laser radar and information security projects settle down in SIP.
