Wang Xiang Inspects SIP International Trade Zone

On the afternoon of May 6, Wang Xiang, Standing Committee member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, inspected Suzhou Industrial Park International Trade Zone to gain thorough understanding of the development situation and to study and arrange the work in the next stage. The participants included SIP Administrative Committee officials Liu Xiaomei, Sun Yanyan and Huang Haitao, chiefs of SIP government departments and offices concerned.

At the discussion, Wang Xiang listened carefully to the Zone's current work report. Since the beginning of this year, the Zone has made it a point to attract investment according to qualifications, and bring in key, leading and new business and "new normal" projects for promotion of pilot work in trade diversification and cross-border e-commerce development, and as a result, in the first quarter, it completed 4.969 billion USD of total volume of import and export (a YOY growth of 3.88%) and 546 million USD of settlement amount of transit trade (a YOY growth of 60.12%) and the integrated free trade zone supervised 21.839 billion US dollars' worth of cargos (a YOY growth of 9.95%). In the course of development, however, the Zone encountered bottleneck constrains in land, incubator resources, development space, and infrastructure.

Wang Xiang made full appraisal of the achievements of the Zone and required the staff to look ahead, continue to pay close attention to the latest policies and make more innovations and breakthroughs, and asked the departments concerned to offer further follow-up service and lose no time in helping the Zone overcome difficulties.

Also, all the participants offered advice and suggestions based on their respective department function about the Zone's further development.
