Suzhou Industrial Park held a meeting on the afternoon of February 26 to review the achievements and award advanced teams and individuals of the year 2014, and to mobilize the cadres and the masses to create more records and glories and strive to be the pioneer in the program of "scaling new heights, building new Jiangsu Province".

The officials present included Shi Taifeng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee, Zhou Naixiang, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Suzhou, Gao Xuekun, Chairman of Suzhou Municipal Political Consultative Conference, Wang Shaodong, Standing Committee Member & Secretary-General of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee, and Wang Xiang, Standing Committee Member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee. Yang Zhiping, Deputy Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee and Director of SIP Administrative Committee, presided over the meeting.

In the past year, under the correct leadership of municipal Party committee and government, and by focusing on innovation and reform and seeking improvement in stability, SIP maintained a steady and healthy momentum for economic and social development. In the past year, SIP's GDP increased by 8.3% over the previous year to 200.1 billion yuan, public budget income went up by 11.3% to 23.03 billion yuan, the paid-up foreign capital amounted to 1.96 billion US dollars, import & export volume reached 80.28 billion US dollars; and fixed investments amounted to 70.06 billion yuan, all of which retained stable growth. The total retail sales of consumer goods grew by 13.4% to 31.59 billion yuan, and per capita disposable income of urban residents increased by 8.7% to 52,500 yuan, which showed that the development quality & efficiency was continually optimized and improved.

Wang Xiang concluded that SIP had adhered to opening-up, innovation and comprehensive reform as the first to experiment preferential policies to infuse new vitality to development, had attached great importance to innovation, all-around transformation and upgrading and industrial structure optimization so as to improve development quality, had done a good job in improving city functions and image and the people's wellbeing and strict Party governance and struggling against formalism, bureaucratism, hedonism and extravagance so that more people could benefit from the progress. Wang Xiang pointed out that in 2015 SIP should grasp "new recurrences" in economic development, continually reinforce its resolve with keen sense of responsibility, seek improvement in stability, deepen China-Singapore cooperation, make breakthroughs in innovation, strive to improve quality and efficiency and create new advantages in the new situation and be a pioneer on development path and a leader in "two fields".

In his speech, Shi Taifeng gave full affirmation to SIP's achievements of the past year. He pointed out that in the year 2014, which hallmarked the 20th anniversary of SIP, all the cadres and the masses of SIP made positive contributions to the steady and healthy economic and social development of the city by following the demands of the municipal, provincial and central authorities, seeking improvement in stability and following the lead of innovation and taking the lead in reform breakthroughs.

The year 2015 was crucial to the all-round in-depth reform, and to the start of in-depth implementation of the decisions of the 4th plenary session of the 18th Party central committee, of all-round promotion of rule by law, of all-round fulfillment of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech made during his inspection of Jiangsu, as well as of working for "scaling new heights, building new Jiangsu Province". Shi Taifeng urged SIP to make noticeable achievements in development quality, brand promotion and experience dissemination by strictly studying and implementing the series of important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping and his latest requirements on the work of Jiangsu Province, pushing forward "four all-rounds" in a concerted way, further consolidating foundation for overall well-off society, actively exploring basic realization of modernization and blazing new trails through innovative practices. Shi Taifeng called on Suzhou to be a pioneer of "scaling new heights, building new Jiangsu Province" and SIP to stand in the forefront of Suzhou.

Shi Taifeng placed high hopes in SIP and called on SIP to be proactive in four acts, namely, to achieve new improvements in "innovative SIP", "harmonious SIP", "SIP governed by law" and "SIP with clean and honest administration".
