Suzhou youngsters win title in international robotics competition
The FRC Off-Season Events: Robotics Championship China (RCC) was held from July 29 to Aug 2 at Hangzhou International Expo Center, Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province. MITO, a team consisting of over 20 youngsters from Suzhou, won the champion.

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school robotics competition sponsored by FIRST, a Manchester-based not-for-profit public charity designed to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology and to motivate them to pursue education and career opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields.

At the event, teams from Chinese, Australian and US high schools competed in rounds of rivalries with the game-playing robots they built. In the process, MITO's "6394", a 52.6-kg robot that can transform to be 3.1m high, beat all its rivals. Its complicated and exquisite structure and excellent performance received high praise from both the jury panel and other participants.

MITO was founded in 2015. With the technical support from the S&T and Creativity Research Center at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, the team has won several awards in domestic robotics contests.
