Public-benefit events thrive
Loufeng Sub-district recently saw a variety of events which have benefited the local residents in different ways.
Fengtang Community hosted a reading session on July 12, hoping to increase the residents' interest in reading. In the process, the participants introduced their favorite books to each other, read a few paragraphs for others and shared their feelings about reading.
In the event at Fengyi Community on July 11, doctors from Lixiang Eye Hospital of Soochow University conducted eye checkups for the residents, answered their inquiries and offered them tips on eye protection and eye disease treatment.
Fengnanlu Community offered a health lecture on July 10, when senior nutritionist Lu Yifeng imparted knowledge on health maintenance in summer and sunstroke prevention to the participants. He also taught them to make herbal tea that can help keep cool and quench thirst in hot days, and shared mung bean soup and steamed dumplings with them.
Meixiang Community held an information session on July 12, distributing handouts on local employment and entrepreneurship support policies to the residents and offering them advice based on their specific conditions.
A group of volunteers from Fengyi Community and lawyer Ma Yan disseminated legal knowledge in Loufeng Sub-district Legal Culture Park on July 11. They gave the residents a detailed account of laws such as those on domestic?violence, protection of juveniles and drug abuse, told them how to protect themselves using legal tools and answered their inquiries.
