The 2017 iSING! Suzhou International Young Artists Festival, which was once held in Suzhou in 2014, kicked off again in the city on July 24 and will last till August 29. The event has attracted 43 young singers from 15 countries, and 13 world famous opera experts and music professors have been invited to give performances and share their expertise. It encompasses training sessions and performances, including singing lectures, visits and related activities as well as two concerts. The event is designed to offer an opportunity for young singers to better understand eastern and western cultures and pursue higher artistic accomplishments.

Stanford professor gives a lecture on music
Jindong Cai, a professor of performance at Stanford University and chief conductor of the closing concert of the 2017 iSING! Suzhou International Young Artists Festival, gave a lecture to over 100 music enthusiasts at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre on Aug 4. He laid emphasis on the development of western classical music in China as well as the close relations between western music and China's politics and diplomacy.
