Egg-standing a popular game in Spring Equinox

The picture shows that Lucas, a German boy in SIP Shuixiang Community, was delighted after having successfully stood eggs upright in a community activity on Mar 19.

The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides a year into 24 solar terms. The Spring Equinox, which is the fourth term of the year and signals the equal length of the day and night time, starts on Mar 20 and ends on Apr 3 this year.

During the Spring Equinox, standing an egg upright is a popular game across the country, which is believed to bring good luck in the future.

Some believe that during the Spring Equinox the axis of the earth is relatively balanced against the orbital plane of the earth's rotation around the sun, which makes it easier to erect an egg.
