Suzhou Genepharma Chairman Recognized as a National Talent in Bio-Medicine

The Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee recently published the third list of nominees for 1,000 Talents Project and, among the four from Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), Chairman Zhang Peizhuo of Suzhou Genepharma is the city's first entrepreneur specializing in the field of biomedicine.

With a doctoral degree of College of Pharmacy at Beijing Medical University and a postdoctoral degree of University of London, Dr. Zhang has 15-year professional experience and specializes in chemistry of nucleic acid, the R&D of related products, industrialization, and marketing. He has published over 10 articles on international journals and owns three patents.

In 2007, Dr. Zhang founded Suzhou Genepharma at BioBay and the company has proprietary technology of making the core raw material of RNAi therapeutics, and become the only domestic and one of the four international suppliers. The unit price of its key product at global market is over 10,000 US dollars per gram and the company has obtained a series of state and provincial policy support on new drug development, innovation, and industrialization of research fruits.

In 2011, the company will move to a new base with a total area of 10,000 square meters custom-built by BioBay through contract.
