SIP Completes 70-km2 Development in 12 Years
On May 12, a friendship match was played between Suzhou municipal officials and Singapore friends at the scenic Jinji Lake Golf Course in celebration of the 12th anniversary of the development and construction of China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park. By completing the development and construction of the 70-square-kilometer Sino-Singapore cooperation zone, SIP has risen to the forefront of development zones in China.
Yan Li, Mayor of Suzhou, says that SIP has achieved great successes in SIP development in the past 12 years under the concerted efforts of China and Singapore, and we are now advancing from a new starting point towards even more brilliant future in the course of cooperation between the two sides.
A major cooperation project between the governments of China and Singapore, SIP has maintained fast, healthy growth in the past 12 years. By now, SIP has approved a total of 2,408 foreign-invested projects with contracted investment capital of 25 billion USD, including 53 from the Fortune-500 enterprises and over 60 US$100-million projects.
Officials of Suzhou municipal government expresses confidently that SIP has now entered into a new development stage in building up a new modern and garden-like urban district with thriving economy, culture, and tourism.
