SIP Medical & Pharmaceutical Industry GMs Club Established
The preparatory meeting for SIP Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry GMs Club was held on the afternoon of March 31 in Modern Building, SIP, attended by GMs and representatives of 21 medical and pharmaceutical enterprises. Invited to the meeting were duty chairman of SIP Electronics and Semiconductor GMs and GM of Fairchild Semiconductor (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.
At the meeting, a core coordination group of the club was elected through secret ballot, formed by the first duty chairman and vice-chairmen. Mr. James Tu, GM of Lilly Suzhou Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was elected chairman, and Mr. Ishiguro, Chairman and GM of Eisai (China) Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and Mr. Cai Deliang, GM of Glaxo-Smiths Pharmaceutical (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., were elected vice-chairmen of the club.
The club was established with the encouragement of the state for setting up industrial associations. In the past month, SIP Bureau of Economic Development visited some 20 main medical and pharmaceutical enterprises on survey and investigation trips, and learned about the wishes of the GMs of these enterprises to establish industrial association or club. To enhance their exchanges and cooperation, the Bureau initiated the action to set up SIP Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry GMs Club.
SIP is fast becoming a major production base for chemical drugs, biological products, and medical appliances. Over a dozen medical and pharmaceutical enterprises with global prestige have entered SIP, and those early comers are already reaping economic returns, and their sales and profit are increasing year by year. The recent two years witnessed a renewed upsurge of investment in the pharmaceutical industry in SIP with wider scope.
On the basis of opinions from the enterprises concerned, SIP Bureau of Economic Development submitted a list of recommended candidates for the first coordination group of the club. The newly elected chairman and vice-chairmen expressed thanks for the trust of the representatives of the club members and pledged to adapt the successful experience of SIP Electronics and Semiconductor Association in drafting the constitution of the club, building up the club organization structure, and bringing the club into operation as soon as possible.
Li Yinong, Vice-chairman of Sipac, expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of the club and the elected chairman and vice-chairmen, and the hoped that the club would play the role of bridge between the government and enterprises and among themselves. He was also convinced that the club would help to enhance communication and cooperation with related enterprises and to promote the growth of SIP pharmaceutical industry.
