SIP to Recruit 12,000 Software Talents in 2007

SIP Science and Technology Bureau, Software Park, and SIP Human Resource Company recently conducted a joint investigation and analysis on the employees information and labor recruitment contracts in 180-odd software enterprises within SIP, and made an assessment of the potential software human resources and the demands in the next 4 years. The investigation and prediction shows that there were over 8,000 software personnel of all kinds in SIP by the end of last year, and the demand for software talents this year will be 12,000, and the number will rise beyond 50,000 by the year 2010.

According to sources of SIP administrative departments of science and technology, the output value of hi-tech industries in SIP comprise 58% of the total industrial output value of SIP by the end of 2006, and the total turnover from software industry (including IC designing enterprises) exceeded 5 billion RMB.

The investigation also shows that last year, the total demand for software personnel in SIP was 8,112, of which 4,674 belonged to software development and testing personnel. The prediction of demands for software personnel was based on the target set forth in the "11th 5-year plan" of SIP, which requires that by the end of 2010, the output value of software industry should reach 20 billion RMB and the export of software products USD 2 billion. The demand for software talents will keep growing at the annual rate of about 50% in the next 4 years.

The shortage of software talents has posed as a bottleneck in the growth of software industry in Suzhou. The "blue collar software workers" for basic operations are needed in large numbers, and so is the case for senior software talents with technology and management expertise.
