Recitation becomes part of life

The SIP Jinji Lake Recitation Competition has spread its seeds across SIP. Diverse recitation events have been seen over the past few years.

A poetry recitation session was held by Yangcheng Lake last autumn as part of the French Literature Reading Week of the first Suzhou Jinji Lake China-France Culture and Art Week. A number of expatriates, literature enthusiasts and people good at recitation participated.

SIP Library promoted the “Voice on Lakeside” short video program and the “Show Your Voice” mini stage program to offer citizens opportunities to try recitation. It also opened the “Dushu Lake Voices” channel on the audio and podcasting platform Ximalaya to post audio stories from Suzhou.

The SIP Jinji Lake Recitation Competition has attracted people in different age brackets and professions.

Among them is Zhao Chenxi, a pupil at Dongshahu Primary School who won the first prize in the junior group of the first session and is a contestant in this year’s event.

Wu Wentai, a biomedical engineer who started working in SIP two months ago, hoped to experience the culture of SIP through the event.
