A major competition program on the Jinji Lake banks
The first session of SIP Jinji Lake Recitation Competition attracted more than 1,200 works from individuals and teams, among whom are those from communities, schools, enterprises and public institutions, and received the attention of more than 500,000 people. And each of the later sessions caught the attention of about one million people.
“Recitation is an exquisite, elegant form of verbal language art which incorporates literature, art and performance,” a member of the organizing team shared his opinion on the reason for the popularity of recitation.
Shen Jie, a 70-year-old who founded a reading club and has participated in all of the five sessions of the SIP Jinji Lake Recitation Competition, said, “I’ve turned from a contestant to a service provider to help people of my age to stand on the stage of the competition.”
It is reported that this year’s event had received more than 2,100 works by Aug 22 and about 70,000 people have voted for them online since Aug 18.
