In the tour, the journalists gained a holistic picture of SIP’s development over the past 27 years and its new blueprint of striving toward a world-class industrial park.
As a significant cooperative project between Chinese and Singaporean governments, SIP has demonstrated robust development and a leading role nationwide in opening-up, innovation and business facilitation. It has retained for five straight years the top spot in the comprehensive evaluation of National Economic and Technological Development Zones (NETDZs) conducted by the Ministry of Commerce of China.
In 2020, SIP’s GDP reached RMB 290.7 billion, while the total industrial output value of enterprises above designated size exceeded RMB 500 billion, including RMB 249.4 billion from the biomedical, nanotech and AI industries which SIP gives priority to under its development plan.
The journalists learnt that SIP has set new goals to build a world-class high-tech park and pilot free trade zone, and become a new center of Suzhou.
