Suzhou Ballet Theatre (SBT) staged its original ballet Tang Yin on May 6 and 7 (local time) at the 26th Bydgoszczy Opera Festival held in Bydgoszczy, Poland. The performances, the second and last leg of SBT’s Eastern European tour scheduled from Apr 28 to May 9 and also a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Eastern European countries, received high acclaim from local artists and audiences. 

It is learnt that SBT attended the 22nd Bydgoszczy Opera Festival in 2015 with its classic ballet Carmen. However, different from Carmen that was adapted from the widely known western opera of the same name, Tang Yin depicts the story of a famous ancient Chinese scholar through modern western art forms. The Chinese elements in it greatly aroused the local audiences’ interest in Chinese culture and art.
