A pastel exhibition opened at SIP's Ligongdi Cultural and Creative Block on Dec 22 and will last till Jan 20, 2019. On display are about 50 works by renowned Chinese pastel artist Wang Xiangzhen, who died of an illness last year.

Born in East China's Zhejiang province, Wang was a member of China Artists Association and a pastel master designated by Pastel Society of America. He won a list of awards in domestic and international pastel competitions for his talents in revealing profound life philosophies using simple strokes. His works are in the collections of many art galleries and private collectors around the world.

Moreover, Wang often shared his works, opinions and feelings with his 180,000 followers on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging and live streaming site. That added to his popularity across the country.

A symposium to commemorate Wang was held on the same day.
