Communities in Hudong sub-district recently organized a variety of events designed to enhance the residents' knowledge of traditional Chinese culture in interesting ways.

The Fifth Element Community and Shidai Shangchengbei Community hosted events of similar kind respectively on Aug 25 and 26, when the volunteers imparted knowledge on traditional Chinese medicine to the residents and taught them to make sachets filled with medicinal herbs.

Shuimo and Fengqing Shui'an communities jointly held an event on Aug 28. Based on several questions, the volunteer teacher gave the children a detailed account of the history of Chinese shadow puppetry, and then taught them to make and perform with silhouette figures.

The event in Xinggonggyuan Community took place on Aug 29, when the children acquired a better understanding of the meaning of different Peking Opera facial makeups and learnt to draw the facial makeups following the teacher's instruction and demonstration.
