Communities at Hudong Sub-district recently hosted a variety of events that widened the local children's science knowledge and enriched their summer vacation.

In the event organized by Jingcheng Community, over 20 children and their parents visited a local dental clinic. Following a dentist's guidance, they had a tour around the clinic and gained a better understanding of the functions of different devices, dental examination procedures and dental care methods. Afterwards, with the dentist's help and demonstration, the children checked their parents' teeth, and the dentist then provided check-up to all the children.

In the event in Fangyue Community, with the help and instruction from the volunteer teacher and their parents, the children conducted an experiment, where they tightly covered a balloon on the mouth of a bottle containing mixed alkaline and acidic materials and found that the balloon gradually inflated. The event enhanced their understanding of acid-base neutralization reaction.

Qiongjidun Community hosted an event of similar kind on Aug 19, when the children learnt knowledge on liquid nitrogen in a series of experiments.
