SIP Land Resources and Environmental Protection Bureau (SIP-LREPB) launched an on-line campaign at Dushu Lake Square, SIP on Mar 21 to mark the International Day of Forests (IDF) which is annually celebrated worldwide on the day to raise the awareness of the importance of all types of forests.

The campaign, based on SIP-LREPB's WeChat account, will last till Apr 10, the Earth Day. SIP-LREPB will plant a tree in SIP for each of the 30 participants who rank among top 30 in the on-line contest where the participants' footsteps will be recorded every day to encourage them to travel by walk. Additionally, the top 30 place winners will have the chances to take home a seedling model and a commemorative badge.

It is noteworthy that the WeChat program designed for the campaign also offers a map with information about different kinds of plants across SIP. 

SIP-LREPB disclosed that the campaign is the first of a series of events it plans to host over the rest of the year to increase local residents’ awareness of environmental protection.
