The latest news said the tunneling operations for Subway Line 3, a 45.2km east-west project running from Suzhou New District to SIP via Gusu and Wuzhong districts, were completed on Oct 20, and track laying and mechanical and electrical installation are underway.

According to a source close to the project, the tunneling project demonstrates a set of good practices in tackling various technical challenges caused by geographical conditions and surrounding buildings, setting a good example for projects of similar kind.

It is revealed that the whole line, starting construction in December 2014, is expected to come into trial operation in December 2019.
