The No. 2 Dushu Lake Tunnel in SIP, part of Suzhou's express logistics road network, started construction on Sept 30, and is expected to help greatly ease local traffic pressure after it comes into use in 2021.

The project, with a total investment of RMB 3.2 billion, is 3.93 km long in total, consisting of a 2.6-km tunnel under Dushu Lake together with a ground section to connect the zones at the lakesides.

The project undertaker has revealed that a series of new technologies will be adopted to improve the road's skid resistance, reduce noises caused by vehicles and equip the road surface with automatic temperature control devices for melting snow and ice.
