Suzhou government recently released Plan for Transfer from Suzhou Rail Transit Line 3 to Ground Traffic, announcing to build 15 of 37 stations along the 45.2-km line into transfer stations for seamless connection with ground traffic.

The rail transit line, an east-west project running from Suzhou New District to SIP via Gusu and Wuzhong districts, started construction in December 2014 and is scheduled to come into trial operation in 2019. According to the newly-minted plan, facilities for transfer to buses will be built at all stations, and those for transfer to taxis and non-motor vehicles will be set up at three comprehensive transfer stations.

Currently, a series of projects have been launched at several of the stations to build P+R (Park & Ride) parking lots, which will allow the passengers to leave the rail transit system and transfer to their own or shared vehicles like bikes and cars for the remainder of their trips. It is reported 5,670 parking spaces of the kind are expected to be completed by 2030.
