Dragon boat race to kick off on Dragon Boat Festival

A news briefing held in SIP on June 7 announced that the 2018 China Telecom E-surfing 4G Cup Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race will kick off at SIP's Moonlight Dock on the day of Dragon Boat Festival, which, reckoned on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, will fall on June 18 this year.

The event organizer gave a detailed account of the competition rules, event highlights, awards and measures to ensure the success of the event. It is revealed that 66 teams consisting of 1,348 people, including 10 teams composed of 220 expatriates from over 20 countries, will compete in the 12-men, 12-women and 22-people 300-meter straightaway races.

According to the organizer, this year's event will have more teams competing in the 12-women and 22-people races over the previous sessions, and an eight-lane starting platform will be used to guarantee fair competition, while a diversity of interaction and experience activities, performances and exhibitions will be held concurrently.

"The event is open to the public. We hope more and more people will have chances to partake in the races and parallel activities," the organizer said.
