Suzhou Wandi AI Co Ltd, an SIP-based company founded by Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, released its first self-driving car on June 16. The car is said to be able to memorize routes and bypass barriers automatically.

"Our algorithm can remember the routes the car has gone across once or twice," the company's main technical official Du Xinxin said, pointing at a metal box under the front seat which he called the "brain of the car".

"We use single-line laser radars instead of multi-line ones for faster detection of barriers. Each car has four radars on the top, front and back for all-direction detection," Du said in explaining the car’s ability of ensuring safety.

The car reportedly has passed the tests on some of the open roads in the United States and Singapore without any accidents when it worked at a speed of lower than 70 km/hr. It will soon be tested at a closed pilot zone at Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort.
