The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between China and Korea and the Free Trade Agreement between China and Australia officially went into effect on Dec.20, 2015.

Up to December 2016, Suzhou Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau SIP Office (SIP Office) had issued 8,410 Certificate of Origin for Korea-China FTA and Certificate of Origin for Australia-China FTA, with the total amount topping $300 million, including 5,738 Korea-China Certificates of Origin, or $217 million, and 2,672 Australia-China Certificates of Origin, or $96 million.

The import tariff accumulatively saved for the companies that export goods to Korea and Australia added up to about $15.63 million.

Currently, the Certificate of Origin for Korea-China FTA, the Certificate of Origin for Australia-China FTA, and the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area Preferential Tariff Certificate of Origin have constituted a major part of regional certificates of origin, taking up about one quarter of all the certificates of origin issued in SIP.

SIP companies export over 300 kinds of products to Korea and Australia, such as ceramics, auto parts, satellite positioning module, toilet utensil, electric vehicle, and so on.

In order to increase SIP companies' utilization of FTA, SIP Office stepped up the efforts to examine and verify electric documents while pushing forward the digitalization of certificate of origin in an effort to avoid document data error, decrease the document correction rate and reduce the frequency of overseas return and inquiry.
