SIP Market Supervision Bureau (SIPMSB) held a meeting with SIP e-commerce enterprises recently, inviting 40 online retailers in SIP to discuss e-commerce operation and development in a bid to regulate their business.

SIPMSB Social Affairs Inspection Group found that the reasons for online retailers' misdeeds are complicated due to the low barriers to e-commerce and the large number of self-employed businesses, and that some misdeeds have arisen from the want of response mechanism and self-regulating ability.

During the meeting, experts gave interpretations, citing applicable laws and regulations, of several acts of the violation of the price law, and laid emphasis on the explanation and definition of promotion "original price" in the legal sense, the cross-out price in reality, and heavily complained offences such as false price publicity, false discount, failure to keep price promise, etc.

The trainer also gave guidance on online retailers' exaggerated publicity and their confusion with absolute language usage.

Many online retailers appreciated the timely meeting and believed it would help them get a good grasp of the laws and regulations and improve their self-discipline.
