Suzhou Industrial Park authority currently registers 5,031 labor unions in the area. All the enterprises invested by Fortune Global 500 Companies and 95% companies with 100 employees or more have set up labor unions. All small private businesses with no more than 25 employees are members of joint labor unions.

SIP Federation of Labor Unions makes it its mission to serve employers and employees. Since 2005, the federation has joined hands with municipal authorities in organizing a series of skill competitions, which attracted 4,000 participants and 90 of them won "Gusu Skill Award", the honorary title of "Suzhou Skilled Talent", as well as the qualification for applying for the professional title of technician.
