CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics signed an agreement on August 29 with Suzhou Industrial Park about setting up a research facility in SIP.

The institute will respond to the needs of the country and the province on high-end new materials as well as energy technologies. The tasks include recruiting qualified people, gathering innovation resources, building labs, developing core technologies, developing integration systems, and commercializing.

Based in Suzhou, the institute serves Jiangsu and gradually establishes influence in Yangtze River Delta Area. The goal is to grow into an important base of technological innovation and system integration in resource, energy, and material as well as an important platform for R&D, commercialization, and public technological service and support.

Wang Xiang, Standing Committee Member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, said at the signing ceremony that Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics had the best team and R&D strength and that the cooperation was based on national strategy and market demand. "This project will promote China's research and industrialization in new material and energy sectors and will contribute to Suzhou's hi-tech industries as well." He promised that local government would do its best to provide the best service and R&D environment for the institute.
