Events make children’s summer vacation special

Communities in SIP’s Hudong sub-district organized an assortment of events from July 19 to 22, aiming to give local children special summer vacation experiences.
Baitang Community hosted an event on July 19. A total of 23 children took part in a game which, a test of physical agility and intelligence, requires the participants to run through a maze built with cords, cross several barriers and overcome other challenges to find the “treasure”.
 
Jingcheng Community hosted an event on July 22, offering local families a chance to exchange their second-hand books for daily use articles. The books reportedly will be donated to children in poverty-stricken areas through a local charity. 
 
Several communities organized events designed to instill environmental protection concepts into youngsters.
For example, Donghu Chunyun Community organized two events. In the one on July 20, the participating youngsters visited a farm and tried their hands on feeding animals and harvesting vegetables and fruits. In another one on July 22, a group of little volunteers helped pick up litter on building stairways and those in public places, and gave recycle bags they made to local residents.
Shuimo and Shuanghuwan communities jointly held an event on July 22 to teach the participating children and their parents to make garbage enzyme.
 
Shuimo Community also held a DIY event on July 22, teaching the participating children to make collages to depict 24 Chinese Solar Terms, while Qiongjidun Community hosted an event of similar kind the previous day for the participants to learn to make leather bags.
