SIP’s Weiting Sub-district recently saw two science popularization events designed to enrich local youngsters’ summer vacation and widen their science knowledge.

Gulou Ercun Community offered a lecture on aviation in collaboration with GE Aviation (Suzhou) Co Ltd. In the event, the engineers from the company gave the participating youngsters a specific introduction to various aircraft and their working principles based on pictures, videos and models. It is reported that the community and the company are planning to offer more events of similar kind on a regular basis in the future.

 

In the event in Tingnan Community, over 20 youngsters made small electric fans that can be driven by solar power following the volunteer teacher’s demonstration and instruction. They gained a better understanding of energy conversion and acquired very useful hands-on skills in the process.
