As part of the globally renowned VEX Robotics Competition, the 12th Tencent Youth Cup VEX Asia-Pacific Robotics Championship held in Macao from Nov 30 to Dec 3 attracted over 450 teams consisting of nearly 2,000 middle and high school students from nine Asia-Pacific countries. Of them, a six-member team from SIP Industrial Technical School (SIPITS) advanced to the next round as the first-place winner in the skill contest and second-place winner in the qualifying competition.

The VEX Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, is the largest and fastest-growing middle school and high school robotics program worldwide. It is designed to prepare students to become future innovators with valuable engineering skills and life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, communication, collaboration, project management and critical thinking.

It is reported that the SIPITS team made good preparations for the event with their teachers' help and guidance, including repeatedly modifying the robot they built to make it perfect and taking part as volunteers in another VEX event held in Jiangsu in late November to learn experience.
