SIP, home to 4,500 foreign-funded enterprises and 11,813 expatriates from different countries and regions, has been showing its care and concern for the enterprises and employees ever since the outbreak of the coronavirus disease known as COVID-19.

SIP authorities put together a translation team in late January to publish information about the epidemic through SIP’s official website and social media accounts in Chinese, English, Korean and Japanese. Besides, 24-hour hotline services have been launched for expats and foreign-funded enterprises, and posters in Chinese and English have been erected at some administrative offices, hotels and apartment buildings to remind them of cautions against the disease.

A student from Latvia, who is working on her master’s dissertation, said in an interview that she has never worried about the situation.

“The apartment management company has sent people to remind me of reducing trips and wearing a mask when going out and give me a free thermometer. There are also professionals to help disinfect my house and the public spaces in the building,” she said.

For foreign-funded enterprises, the local authorities posted a letter on SIP’s official website on Feb 6 to reassure the enterprises and offer them guide to cooperate in the fight against the virus and seek related services and help from local authorities. On the other hand, they are taking initiatives to learn about the enterprises’ needs and render them help in their operations.
