SIP's comprehensive bonded area, formed in December 2007, has set a good example for construction of trade carriers of its kind in the country, and is developing toward a highland for reform and opening-up.

The area is a pioneer nationwide in adopting simplified customs clearance procedures, providing digital port and logistics services, taking comprehensive measures for trade facilitation, and carrying out the general VAT payer accreditation mechanism to help enterprises in it diversify their trade modes. In the latest move, it is offering a preferential tax policy that enables enterprises to enjoy tax breaks for imports for R&D purposes and for testing, maintenance and remanufacturing projects commissioned by overseas clients. Therefore, it is no surprise that it handled cargoes worth US$ 133.8 billion and attracted investment of more than US$ 4 billion last year.
