Suzhou Industrial Park held a working conference on flood control on the afternoon of June 30 to implement the instructions and tasks from the provincial and municipal Party leaders about flood control in order to secure the safety of the lives and properties of the masses of people. 

The meeting reviewed the situation in water conservancy construction in recent years and the preparations for the prevention of flood this year. SIP has reinforced efforts in the construction of water conservancy projects over the years, and completed the navigation waterway between Yangcheng Lake and Loujiang River, and 88% of the dredging of Loujiang River, and renovated 16 embankments, and standardized the three permanent causeways, thus greatly improving the capability of flood prevention and diversion. In line with the specific conditions in SIP, the flood control equipment has been put in place, including 10 mobile petro pumps, 10 underwater pumps, 18 electrical pumps, 10 diesel engines, 5,000 meters of bagging materials, 50,000 sand bags, while the sub-districts have also got necessary equipment in standby.

In his speech, Wang Xiang, Standing Committee Member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, pointed out that flood control was an important emergency task that mattered the safety of the lives and properties of the people, and departments at all levels should assume an attitude of high alert with a keen sense of responsibility and go all out to stand ready at all times, and guarantee that there would be no heavy losses and disasters.
