The 2023 China Telecom “Hello 5G Cup” Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race is set to kick off at Jinji Lake Urban Square, SIP on June 22 as a celebration of the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival which, reckoned on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, will fall on that day this year.
The event is sponsored by the Publicity Department of CPC Suzhou Committee, Suzhou Sports Bureau and SIP Administrative Committee, and organized by SIP-based Sungent Group. It is part of the 5th Jiangnan Culture and Arts & International Tourism Festival scheduled from late May to late June.
A total of 66 teams consisting of 1,398 people will compete in the races on Jinji Lake. Among them will be nine composed of 172 expatriates from 15 countries and regions including France, Germany, the United States, Russia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
The contestants are now training in SIP, and the local residents and many tourists have gotten ready to cheer for the teams.
