SIP is home to over 20 art museums and other art organizations which host more than 120 art exhibitions each year. Now, more and more people tend to spend their leisure time in an art museum or gallery.
For example, the Beijing Film Academy New Media Art Laboratory Exhibition themed “The New Academic Approach of Chinese Contemporary Art” and the solo exhibitions of Chinese artists Wan Zhuqing and Ding Cheng just wrapped up at Jinji Lake Art Museum.
The Beijing Film Academy New Media Art Laboratory Exhibition, which opened last December, showcased 60 new media art works by 32 (groups of) contemporary Chinese artists. These works, including paintings, installations, images, videos and sounds, demonstrate application of new media technology in art education, creation and appreciation.
The solo exhibitions of Wan Zhuqing and Ding Cheng, both teachers at School of Art of Soochow University, demonstrated the artists’ exploration of art over years.
There are often exhibitions designed for festivals, like the exhibition of Taohuawu New Year woodcut prints at Suzhou Industrial Park Urban Art Space and the 2023 Art Exhibition for the Year of the Rabbit at SIP Northern Citizen Center during the Chinese New Year.
