This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy, and also the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the sister city relationship between Suzhou and Venice. Over the past 40 years, the two cities have actively promoted various exchanges and cooperation. It is worthwhile mentioning that during the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic crises, the two cities have been offering support to each other.
The Suzhou International Day this year incorporated a series of Italy themed activities, such as the photo exhibition themed “Water City Stories”, China-Italy traditional handicrafts exhibition, and Italy lifestyle experience space. Such activities highlighted the rich national characteristics and outstanding traditional crafts rooted in China and Italy, and also embodied the precious friendship and communications between the people in Suzhou and Venice in the past 40 years.
The photo exhibition received the support from Suzhou Village, an outlets mall in SIP. A number of Italian brands, including Armani, Valentino, Versace and others, also participated in it.
