A museum located at Hubin Community, SIP’s Weiting Sub-district, opened to the public on Jan 4, showcasing pictures, videos, production tools and other items to give visitors a holistic picture of the evolution of four local earthen brick plants that made bricks and tiles from 1960s to 80s.

Built in three villages which were merged and renamed Hubin Village in 2004 and Hubin Community in 2009, the brick plants were closely related to then villagers’ life and work, since many of the villagers worked at the brick plants and exchanged their firewood for bricks and tiles produced there to build their houses. Therefore, the community authorities believe that it is of great significance to set up a museum of the kind to help the community residents better understand local history and culture.

The first visitors to the museum were a group of children who viewed the exhibits and listened to the museum staff’s introduction to the tools and workflows at the brick plants.
