U-Theatre of Taiwan is scheduled to stage the Sword of Wisdom at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre on June 28.

The Taiwan art troupe was jointly established in 1993 by Ruo-Yu Liu and Chih-Chun Huang, who are currently artistic directors of the troupe. The troupe incorporates a variety of exercise and performance elements, such as Jerzy Grotowski's body training methods, oriental martial art, drumming skills and Taiji exercise, which forms a modern way of physical training showing the essence of nature and meditation. U-Theatre of Taiwan enjoys a high fame in the modern stage show circle. According to New York Times, the troupe's performance presents a kind of “high-level and complicated beauty”.

Liu says the troupe's art creation is inspired by the meditation about human beings, nature and environment, laying emphasis on self-cultivation. In other words, art creation may not necessarily be a result of brain's work, but an inspiration from harmonious relationship between a person and the nature and environment. She believes that artists should look inwardly to avoid being disturbed and misled by the outside world. That’s why she accentuates "cultivating self to gain power".
