Suzhou is called “the City of Silk”, so Suzhou Silk Museum is highly recommended. It is less famous, but is interesting. Admission is free, and no reservation is required.
Located at No. 2001 Renmin Road, Suzhou Silk Museum is the first museum that specializes in silk in China, and a good place to explore the thousands of years’ history of Chinese silk.
The museum boasts a modern design with strong cultural connotation. Its white color symbolizes the natural color of the materials used to make silk.
The exhibits include ancient silk relics, weaving machines, simulated scenes of ancient silk production, etc. The exhibitions allow the visitors to experience the charm and essence of Chinese silk.
