Summer camp on Internet security kicks off

The Publicity Department and the Office of Cyberspace Affairs of CPC SIP Working Committee jointly hosted a summer camp on Aug 8, when 30 local youngsters visited three local tech companies to gain a better understanding of good on-line behaviors and methods of coping with Internet security threats. The event was part of SIP Cyberspace Culture Season scheduled from June to October.

In a fintech company, the youngsters listened to a senior technology trainer's introduction to their technologies and operations and viewed the company's real-time Internet security monitoring system.

In the second company, an executive gave the youngsters an interesting interactive lecture on current Internet technologies, common security loopholes and strategies used to safeguard Internet security before guiding them to tour the company's technical department to enhance their comprehension of what they had learnt from the lecture.

At the last destination, the youngsters watched an animated video that enhanced their knowledge on phishing and other cyber-attacks attempted to acquire sensitive information like usernames, passwords and credit card details by offensive operations. Afterward, a senior technician at the company provided the youngsters with tricks for prevention of network traps based on fact-based stories about fights against hackers.
