Chinese and Japanese art masters show handicrafts
The highlight of China Suzhou Creative & Design Cultural Industry Expo (CCDE) this year is an international forum with the theme of "new handicraft movement" attended by Chinese and Japanese masters. Another event at CCDE is the establishment of Chinese new handicraft movement alliance with a membership of over 100 designers.
Gu Yongqi, who was born in a family of carpenters in 1949 and started to devote himself to making rosewood furniture in his 50s, called on designers to integrate cultural quintessence into modern design concepts to make their products good-looking and comfortable.
Toshiki Kiriyama is a leader of Japan's cultural & creative industry. He was curator of Japanese Pavilion at Expo 2015 in Milan, and curator of Creative Expo Taiwan in 2016. Boasting more than 30 years of working experience, he expressed that the designer should make the technology, design and art balanced in the designing.
