Children Draw about Dragon Boat Festival with Colors and Imagination

The smiling faces inside the dragon boat, the treat of glutinous rice dumplings with realgar wine, the old lady in traditional costumes with basket laden with dumplings, the boats racing on Jinji Lake, the towering Gate of Orient, the brightly colored Ferris Wheel, these are some of the 5,000-odd drawings by children about the coming Dragon Boat Festival, received by April 3 for 2013 Suzhou Youth & Kids Picture Contest.

During the month, 10,000 children from all over Suzhou, including 150 kids from seven countries, signed up for the event. The purpose is to encourage the young generations to participate in and to observe with their own eyes the traditional Chinese festival.

The organizer plans to select 600 award-winning pictures for publishing and for exhibiting at Suzhou Culture & Arts Center on May 5.
