People flocked to Jinji Lake CBD in SIP during the New Year holiday, and opened their wallets for the shopping spree there.
From Dec 30, 2023 to Jan 1, 2024, the Jinji Lake Scenic Area received 403,200 tourists, with a year-on-year increase of 180.39%. Nine tourist destinations around Jinji Lake recorded operating incomes totaling RMB110 million, up more than 50% YoY.
The shopping spots in the CBD were full of customers. The 36-hour “HELLO 2024” activity at Suzhou Center Mall lasted through the holiday, and a light show was staged at the Suzhou Center Century Square on the New Year’s Eve.
The electronic music concert at Ligong Causeway and the New Year concerts at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre, Suzhou Eslite Bookstore and Jiuguang Department Store attracted many people.
Discounts, coupons and lucky draws increased people’s enthusiasm for shopping.
There were also diverse cultural and art events at venues around Jinji Lake and in public spaces, such as exhibitions of calligraphy works and traditional paper-cuts, which allowed the participants to learn about different cultures and art forms.
