The three-day 2020 (11th) Lake Cup Regatta (LCR) kicked off in SIP on Oct 16, gathering over 200 adults and youngsters to compete in the J80, DC20 and Optimist Class races.
The annual LCR, initiated in 2011, has demonstrated SIP’s exemplary practices in pursuing integrated development of cultural and sports industries with tourism, and has made the sport of sailing popular among local citizens. It is particularly noteworthy that, for the first time, the event incorporates a windsurfing open tournament and a nighttime sailing show this year.
At the news briefing held in SIP on Oct 15, the organizing committee of this year’s event called on people interested in the event to watch the races online to help lessen crowds in consideration of the threat of the contagious coronavirus disease COVID-19.
The committee revealed that it has invited Song Kun, the first Chinese woman to sail around the world, to host the live streams of the event through over 20 platforms, and a number of sailing enthusiasts will share their experiences and knowledge on sailing on Tik Tok.
