The Contemporary Women Art Exhibition themed “The Eyes of Wisdom” opened At Suzhou Jinji Lake Art Museum, SIP on Mar 30, and will last till July 21.
The exhibition was sponsored by SIP Public Cultural Center. On display are over 40 works by 29 female artists born between the 1960s and 1990s.
The theme of the exhibition reportedly was inspired by John Ruskin’s concept of the “innocent eye”. According to the famous artist, writer and art critic of the Victorian era, the painter’s task is to recover the infant’s innocent eye, “a sort of childish perception of these flat stains of color, merely as such, without consciousness of what they signify.” The exhibits demonstrate the artists’ creativity, imagination and talents in artistic expressions.
A salon session on women’s role in art was held on the same day.
