Loufeng Sub-district in SIP was recently honored one of the “Advanced Units in Ecological Environmental Protection in 2022” by the government of Suzhou.
The sub-district adopts a level-by-level regular patrol mechanism which allows it to timely discover problems in environmental management and urge corrections. It also carries out publicity campaigns in various forms to increase local residents’ awareness of environmental protection.
On the other hand, the sub-district pays special attention to monitoring pollution sources such as restaurants, construction sites and factories. It has urged restaurants to install oil fume purifiers and oil separators, and conducts inspections over construction sites frequently to ensure effective measures against dust and muck have been taken.
Concurrently, the sub-district has managed to maintain a good water environment relying on the “river chief” mechanism, under which “river chiefs” are appointed to carry out patrols and other actions to protect waters.
