Suzhou International Commercial Court (SUICC), the country’s first international commercial court in a prefecture-level city, recently came into operation at the free trade zone in SIP. It is expected to provide potent legal guarantee for international business activities in Suzhou.

As a special judicial organ under Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court, SUICC focuses on helping resolve difficulties in international commercial and business disputes in Suzhou, such as dealing with first trials of foreign-related civil and commercial disputes with amount of money involved less than RMB 5 billion, appeals against judgments or verdicts made by SIP People’s Court for disputes of the kind, and other cases.

“SUICC provides efficient and effective legal services to support the implementation of major strategies of the country and help promote higher-level development of Suzhou,” said Yu Shuijuan, presiding judge at SUICC.

It is reported that SUICC will also enhance collaboration with experts, scholars and research institutions to carry out prospective studies on commercial disputes in FTZs to help propel innovative development of the FTZ in SIP.
